One of the newest attractions in Ocho Rios, which is about two miles from the villa, Rainforest Bobsled Jamaica at Mystic Mountain, sits on more than 100 acres, occupying an area that stretches from the coast to more than 700 feet above sea level at its peak.
What the Attraction Holds in Store
The attraction offers family members of all ages the opportunity to see and explore the tropical rainforest ecosystem on any of three excursions: Sky lift Explorer, Bobsled Jamaica and Tranopy. Facilities at the location include the Pavilion, and its three story Mystic Mountain Railway Station, which offers views, a bar and a restaurant that serves Caribbean cuisine, and a gift shop. The restaurant is operated by Chef Jose Riqulme and Chef Ravi Anne Kiran, who have created contemporary takes on Caribbean classics, including the world famous jerk chicken, for which the country is so well known.
The building was designed by the famous Jamaican architect Ann Hodges, who patterned the building after an early 1900’s railway station. It offers incredible views of the country’s North Coast, as well as the nearby hills and valleys of St. Ann’s parish. The facility occupies more than 9,000 square feet.
This facility is also the boarding point for Bobsled Jamaica, which is the park’s main attraction. Bobsled Jamaica includes a 1,000 meter long gravity-driven sled ride thorough the rainforest. The ride is designed to evoke images of Jamaica’s famous Olympic bobsled team.
The park also offers the Rainforest Sky Explorer, which is a high-tech chairlift, which takes passengers above the treetops to about 700 feet above sea level at the peak of Mystic Mountain. The ride down takes passengers up close to the rain forest canopy, providing visibility to amazing sights of the rain forest and its wild life.
